DSL splitter in the NID?

Is this DSL or just a second line for for dial up? For DSL, the red-green goes to the DSL box. For a second line, red-green to the regular phone, and yellow black to the modem, likely connecting the yellow to the red terminal and black to the green at the modular box the modem plugs into

This will confuse you, but it seems to be the best way to wire DSL. The left is really the top of the NID. The middle module has a cover, not shown, with the words "No Electronics".

The left module is the original 1/2 ringer with the test jumper. It's just taking up space in the NID.

The middle module is wired to the telco side of the box. It contains a test jack with a built in switch. When a plug is inserted, anything downstream is disconnected and the inserted phone connects directly to the telephone line.

The red/grn terminals then go to the DSL modem (I used pair 4) in the house and the second set of wires go to the LPF-100 DSL filter that I bought.

The two red/grn terminals on the LPF-100 are voice terminals and therefore become the telephone line (Pair 1). DSL filters are then not required.

A technician that paid a visit for another problem, put in the nice "no electronics" box without asking and without DSL trouble. I had it wired with the 1/2 ringer and the wiring is difficult. This is a very clean install.

I like the DSL filters at box, if extra pair available,(eleminates filters through House(Ugly)
I use Blue pair for Line 1, Orange pair for line 2, Green spare, Brown Pair for DSL, then I use a Brown Quickport Jack to Identify DSL.

If you have red, green, yellow, black, and you also have a fax line. You will need indoor
Filters, or run new line to computer or to fax.
