I have a friend who had a close head injury in the military while married to his now separated wife. After the injury he fully recovered and they had another child she began cheating on him they soon separated. My friend is considered legally disabled because of his closed head injury but is fully functional he pays 800 dollars a month in child support but only gets to see his children 10 hours a month. How can he get increased child visitation the ex-wife only lets him talk to the children on speaker phone and if she doesn't like the conversation she hangs up the phone and sometimes has the son to ask for money. Support and visitation are two different matters.

If his ex has become difficult then the only way to get more visitation with his kids is through the courts. If he doesn't already have a visitation order in place he should go to an attorney and file for visitation & custody-- they will also set up a child support order. Its unclear from your post if he just pays $800 a month or he has an support order for that amount. If he already has a court order and just wants more time he will have to file for a modification to the order requesting more time.

Tell him to see an attorney to discuss is options. Most attorneys will see you for free the first time.

Is there a visitation order established that spells out the terms and conditions of visitation? If not, he should go to court and get it ordered. He can then request a more liberal visitation schedule and ask the judge to order the mother to allow private phone conversations without hanging up on him. I'd find it hard to believe that an established court order only allows 10 hours a month visitation and allows for the mother to eavesdrop on her childrens' conversations with their father and allows her to terminate them at her will. This is why your friend should get the courts involved.
