If child completes university and is 23 years of age

I don't know about Canada, but here in the U.S. 23 is usually the cutoff age for the payment of child support to students. If the child in question has graduated from college then she would no longer be eligible for child support.
Is this question in reference to a divorce and outlined child support payments? If so, the divorce decree should outline it for you. Usually support is until the age of 18 unless the child goes on to university and it is extended out until graduation (usually to the age of 22). It rarely covers graduate school but again, the original support agreement needs to be checked.
After a child reaches the age of 18, they are considered an adult. If the 23 year old "child" isn't in school anymore, support is ended. If this is just a question as to how long should a parent support their child and there isn't any paperwork in place, 18 is the age support can legally be cut off. It is up to the parent if they want to continue to support the child any further.
WIDOW disagrees: she lives in usa, I don't the law is the same in canada
Well then why the hell_o is your thread titled Canadian Law: child support when child is not in school? The reddie wasn't necessary and was inappropriate as you both misstated your question and misunderstood my response. As my response was based on American legal precedent, I believe that I acknowledged that Canadian law is probably similar though not necessarily identical. Now, please make yourself clear once and for all ; does your situation involve American law or Canadian law? If you're not sure, then wherever the child support order in question originated is your answer. If it originated in Canada, then Canada has jurisdiction. If it originated in the U.S. then whatever state it originated in has jurisdiction. This is regardless of where any of the concerned parties may be currently residing and/or attending school.
