I like this girl who is my age 18. How do I make her think I'm mature? I asked her once and she said I'm immature because I make jokes in class and say things that don't mean any sense.

If she thinks your jokes do not make sense, then why not try revising your behavior? Are these jokes really necessary or are you the smart aleck in the class - the one who always has to have something "witty" to say? You should realize too that although you both are the same age, she is most likely more mature than you are. It does take guys a couple years longer to mature. But by the time you are 25, you should have a good handle on maturity. Hopefully.

At 18 you are on the cusp of adulthood and should be able to start assuming adult responsibilities. A few years of growing up will look good on you. It looks good on all of us.

I make witty comments in class but I still have an average of about a 90 in a grade 12 academic course. So it's not like I'm a class clown who's dumb if you know what I mean...

The class clown is often a very smart individual. But for some reason, loves to act out and gain that attention, albeit a negative way.

First of all give her compliments everynow and then, don't try to hard to be cool (never works) don't make immature remarks in class, do all your work, don't get in trouble, show her how nice you can be even if she doesn't like you and in the end she should start wanting you.:D ;) :) :cool:

It sounds as if you want to trick her into thinking you are mature rather than convince her that you are.

Are you mature? If so let it show. Act like a man.

If not, grow up. Be a man.

But know, that girls and boys do mature at different rates, girls mature faster than boys. Maybe she is just much more mature than you are, not your fault, just nature, and therefore she thinks you are being silly when you think you are being funny.

The solution could be, find someone who appreciates you for who you are now, and maybe someday she will regret that she didn't appreciate you way back when...

She already told you that she thinks you are immature because of your jokes and say things that don't make sense. SO to get her to think you are more mature you knock of the jokes and don't say things that do not make any sense. Learn to think before you speak.

There is a saying that goes something like the less you say the smarter you appear.

She may feel embarrassed with how you act and therefore can not picture being interested in you

Simple become and act mature.

I'm going to go against the crowd here. You can't convince people of anything, most of the time... unless they come to you and ASK to be convinced about something.

No, you have to just let them think what they want. They're going to anyway.

So, my advice to you, one jokester to another, is NEVER spend another moment pursuing someone who doesn't appreciate or "get" your humor. Don't do it.

I'm a 45 year old immature jokester, I joke about everything, absolutely everything. My wife and I have laughed our way through 23 anniversaries and still bust each other up HOURLY.

That's what you want. A girl who appreciates you exactly the way you are. Mature or immature is irrelevant, only honest living. Don't stifle yourself, not for anyone.

Dear Tom_Jones,
If the girl doesn't like you for who you are, then she is not worth it. Don't try to make her like you because when guys do that to girls (me) it just makes us dislike them even more.
Find a girl who likes you for you because you will like her way more than this chick.
