Is my father a US citizen if he was born in the UK. His parents moved to the U.S. when he was 2 years of age. His father (but not mother) became a U.S. citizen when my father (his son) was 7 years old.
My father grew up entirely in the U.S. and was married to a U.S. citizen for twenty years.

He never applied for citizenship. He has a SS#. He is terminal disabled, hospitalized, and receiving medicare (medicaid).

How (where) do I ensure that he is a US citizen, And could my application for A UK passport (dual citizenship) possibly affect his receiving medicaid.

I'm pretty sure if at least one parent is a citizen, he is a citizen, I believe, since he was a minor at the time. If you have to be positive, I would suggest calling the service center.

He was born in the UK (and didn't grow up entirely in the US - the first two years of his life were spent in the UK).

I'm guessing he is not a US citizen unless something happened that you don't know about. Has he gotten Medicaid under false pretenses? Call the SSA 800 number. The wait isn't long if you call late, say, on Thursday, in the afternoon. I can't imagine why your application would affect him.

I'm not positive, but if his mother was a citizen, I'm guessing he is a citizen, even if his father was not a citizen, but I could be wrong.

I wouldn't think they would grant social security and medicaid to him if he wasn't a citizen, but I might be wrong about that too. I don't think your application for dual citizenship would affect him in any way, but hey, better safe than sorry, so call and find out. Good luck, hope you don't have to wait on hold for a million years.

Like I said, she doesn't think he would be a citizen, and I'm in no way positive, so definitely call and find out. :)

There was an attempt to remove benefits like social security and medicaid from foreigners residing in the US about 20 years ago. I was one of those affected. We were all very excited about it and tried to encourage the legislation to pass. Sadly it did cratered when the Washington morons suddenly realised that they would also have to stop deducting social security from our paychecks. Duh!

Well the only way it could affect him is if you needed some proof from him to establish your claim.
