Complex wireless network issues
Greetings to all:
I've been installing computers and home/small business networks etc for several years, but not professionally, just off my own knowledge.
One of my long-time clients has a very complex set up and for some ridiculous reason, has a tendency for his computers to become morbidly messed up. In all my work, I've never seen such crazy computer problems as he has.
Anyway there are 4 computers - two upstairs on opposite ends of the house, one on the first floor of the house (almost directly below one of the upstairs ones), and one in the center of the basement. Bear in mind this is one of those huge development houses that you always see flattened on TV when a tornado strikes.
He needs all of them to have an internet connection. One can be wired to the router, the rest need to be wireless, for the sake of not running hundreds of feet of wire across floors and the like. I mean the four computers are about as distant from each other as possible in that house.
The problem is, I can't get all them to have a strong connection to the wireless router: when I move it to one location, I lose the connection of another location.
Here's one more possibility (maybe?) He has an extra wireless router.
This whole thing has been driving me nuts... because no matter what plan I figure out, I end up finding a reason why it doesn't work.
Is there any possibility to this mess? Or do I need to simply explain to him that he needs to have wires run or have the computers closer - there is just not a practical or reasonably-priced way of doing this? And - it MUST be dependable. He's tired of having poor connections.
Thank you always for your help.
