'95 Honda del Sol engine dies at high speeds
    Hi everyone.

My girlfriend's '95 del Sol dies at highway speeds. The engine just stops, rpm drops to zero. The car starts up fine afterwards, but after a few minutes of driving, it dies again. We had to get it towed home (140 dollars!! AHH! ). Now she's too scared to drive it anywhere too far. Anyway, I started it up later that evening (but didn't drive it) and I didn't hear or smell anything unusual from the engine.

Today, I started it up and let the engine warm up. It gave me no trouble at all. I drove around the block a few times.. no problems. No weird noise or anything. It ran fine for a while. I went to the store and got some fuel injector cleaner thinking maybe the injectors are dirty and its not getting any gas. I put that in and went to the gas station and filled up with gas. After driving for about 15 minutes... going no more than 50 mph, the engine cut out (rpm drops to zero!). The battery light and oil light was still on. I pulled over to the side and tried to start it up again. It gave me a little trouble starting, but it started up fine. I tried to accelerate and it dies again. So it starts up just fine, but after a little driving, the engine dies. It is able to be restarted.

I got the whole distributor replaced about 3-4 weeks ago from a mechanic because the car would not start and he told me that was the problem. The car worked fine afterwards until now! Is there anything the mechanic could have unintentionally screw up while replacing the distributor? It has never done this before the distributor was replaced.

I replaced the fuel filter about a month ago, as well as any other mantainence stuff (spark plugs, wires).

Does anyone have any idea before I have to take it in to a mechanic again?

    PLEASE HELP!

    -Dave

Yes, the dizzy was faulty. I had it replaced under warranty and it works fine now. Take a look at your distributor. I'm sure it is the problem.
