2000 Nissan Xterra AC not cooling
My 2000 Nissan Xterra AC quit blowing cool air. I checked with the dealership and it will cost me $120 to check for leaks and then add freon. Being 7 years old I would rather do it myself. I have read about certified technician to deal with refrigerates, but if all I need is a $15 can of freon and a little advice I would rather take that route. Help, Please. DP

Allow some small amount of freon to leak out (purge) of the new can and hose while you are attaching the can and hose to the vehicle, this will keep moist air out of your system which will cause problems. If you are not a pro or collecting money from yourself to do this job then the EPA does not apply to you, or rather, its not enforced to the DIYer, that's why you can buy it over the counter.

Can you get a set of gauges and post the LO & HI pressures before you put some freon in please and DO NOT USE FREON WITH SEALER, if one has leak detector dye, that is OK.
