    File divorce from another state?
I was married in virginia and now want to file for divorce, I'm currently working in New Jersey, can I see a lawyer in New Jersey and file for divorce?

You can get a divorce from anywhere. Is your soon-to-be ex-husband also in New Jersey? Or is he still in Va? Or elsewhere? You can file for divorce in a NJ court and your husband will have to come and answer it or accept the divorce by default.

Each state will have their own rules, for example in GA, you have to live in GA for 6 months to establish residency after moving from aonther state before you can file. So you will need check the laws of your state
