Two Sinks (wall in between) Overflow problems
    Hello,

I have two separate bathrooms on my main floor that share a wall. The sinks in each of the rooms are mounted to this common wall so they are back to back (with wall in between). I assume that the share drain lines and water supply.

During a remodeling project, I removed one of the sinks so I could work on the floor, etc. From time to time the wastewater from the sink that was still attached (sink #1) would overflow up and through the trap for sink #2 (which I left on so gas wouldn't come into the room) and the water would leak out on the floor. I put a bucket underneath the trap for sink #2 which solved the problem for months because very little water ever backed up.

So this weekend, I decided to try and clear the drain lines on both sides thinking this would fix the problem... WRONG! It made it worse than ever. I removed all sorts of black gunk from the drains but now it seems that every drop of wastewater from sink one overflows via the trap in sink two.

    What the heck happened?

    Thanks in advance!

You have a clog downstream from the lavatories. The solution would be to snake the drain line from the lavatory roof vent. Put out enough cable to reach the base and 20 feet more. Good luck, Tom
