The receiver is in the canopy where the hanging rod meets the ceiling. Houes wiring enters the canopy from the ceiling and is wired to the receiver. Sounds like you have not started the installation yet.
ballengerb1,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
The ceiling fan is installed. The manufacturer said that the receiver is bad because the light on the remote flashes red when the buttons are depressed and sent a replacement receiver. The receiver is not in the canopy. This is a so called "remote fan" with an internal receiver. There are only three wires coming out of the hanging rod: black, white & green and they are connected directly to the house wiring in the ceiling box.
My question is does anyone know where the internal factory installed receiver is located?
Thank you
I am stumped on this one. You could try sending a personal message to Ceilingfanrepair. He is listed as one of the other experts. Your new remote and the reciver must have the same code on the dip switches. You might luck out by opening the bad receiver and checking the arrangement on the dip switches and then set the new one just the same.
Thank you. Will do.
Please don't PM me.
The receiver may be located in the motor housing, or it may be located in the switch housing right above the lights.

Sorry Ceilingfanrepair. I was just trying to give Bernard a way to get your attention.
It's OK. Email is better, and I try to cover every question here.
