In the state of pa. if I do not put the fathers name on the birth cerificate does that mean I have custody?

If you put father unknown then I am pretty sure he would have to prove he is the father to get any custody rights same with the child support if his name isn't on the certificate he would have to be proven to be responsible for it.

Not officially. The father can still come forward and try to claim custody. But unless that happens you will be the child's sole legal parent.

I would have to agree. I was on the opposite side of that. I put my child's father on the birth certificate and he wanted a DNA test to prove that he was the father because a lot of nasty things were being said by another woman. Anywany, I live in PA too. It doesn't automatically give you custody, unfortunately. If the father wants to fight you, the court will probably have you do a DNA test and after that is established, then he can go on to challenge you for the custody, sorry.
