Ask Me Help Desk - Implantation bleeding?

Ok I have an irregular period for the most part (irregular in legnth of time, not flow). Lately it has been coming around the 20th but on the 16th I noticed some very light pink fluid on my toilet paper. After that, there was no other sign of blood. I have had concerns about pregnancy and I am sexually active although I am not on birth control (stupid I know). I've had some risks and chances of pregnancy although very low ones... if my period did come every 30 days then I shouldn't have even had anything for another 4 days... but its now a day after 30 days and still nothing... also usually my breasts get sore a few days before my period and they aren't so I'm kind of concerned... I've never had spotting before and I read it could be implantation bleeding... the last sexual risk I had was like 2 weeks ago so would that be enough time for that to occur?. I just don't know. I'm really freaked out. Any ideas or opinions? :confused:

It is possible that you could be pregnant and if your period is officially late, you should take a pregnancy test and see.

That a really easy one to get answered!! Head to your local 24 hour pharmacy and get our answer instantlly! Make sure you get one of the test that say "answer up to 4 days earlier" or soemthing similar. First morning urine is the best but you can get two test and do one immediately and if negative do one first thing the next morning. If both negative and its been two weeks since our last sexual intercourse you should not be pregnant. But you should make an appointment with your healthcare provider asap to be screened for sexually transmistted disesases just to be safe and discusss birth control on a go forward basis. Also, while you are at the pharmacy getting the test, pick up a pack of condoms to tide our over until your doctors visit in case you are active until then. Be safe and good luck. Keep us posted!! Implantation bleeding is very very rare... think about it, an egg is microscopic. It could have been breakthrough bleeding due to your upcoming period or light spotting that occurs for some women early in pregnancy.

The fact that you had unprotected sex about 2 weeks ago, has me greatly thinking you could be pregnant. That would have been right around, if not dead on, your most FERTILE time during your cycle!

It's time to take a HPT... keep in mind, if its negative, the stress you are going through right now is enough to have caused it to be late, or you skip it altogether.

But that's the thing... I haven't had unprotected sex... when we have sex its always with a condom and I haven't had sex since September 30th... the small risks I was referring too would be transfer (such as sitting on him naked (not in, just on) or him preforming oral or me right after me swallowing) I haven't had unprotected sex...

Oh, well I apologize for my misunderstanding... you said you had risks and chances of pregnancy, and that your last risk was 2 weeks ago. I assumed "risks and chances" meant unprotected sex.

If you are using a condom... and it hasn't failed (slipped off, broke, etc), then your chances of being pregnant are very low. But keep in mind, aside from not having sex, no birth control is 100% effective. For example I was on the birth control pill when I got pregnant with my daughter :eek:

Again, I would suggest taking a HPT and see what those results are, if they are negative and you still don't get your period, call your doctor.

If I don't get it before November then I will... because then ill know for sure something is wrong... because I always get it once a month... just never any guarantee of when during the month...

Keep in mind your stress over this issue could be causing the delay in your period and can cause you to miss it altogether... so waiting until the month is over is a good idea as well... but why not take a HPT to ease your mind? My older sister was late one month, and she is like clockwork... she was SURE she was pregnant. She took HPT's all negative, still no period. She waited 2 weeks and went to the doctor and got a blood pregnancy test, the morning she got the results (negative) she started her period that evening. Sometimes it's psychological.

I would take one to ease my mind... but since I never know when I'm late or not, I don't want to waste a test by taking it to early or anything...
