Relocate Toilet 2 ft from where it is
I am looking at a bathroom remodeling/expansion project to take out a closet to expand the bathroom size and to add a larger vanity. To get the vanity size I want I will need to move the toilet to where the existing vanity is which is about 2 ft away on the same wall. The bathroom is on the main floor and all plumbing is accessible from the basement. I am not sure if I want to take on the project on my own or hire a plumber to do the work yet, I am looking for an idea as to how much work is going to be involved. The existing plumbing is cast iron, can this be replaced by pvc?

I have attached a photo of the existing setup and where I would like the new location.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

This can be done if you're handy with your hands. First cut the bend off at the hub leaving a few inches past the pipe ribs to attach a Fernco Shielded Coupling ,(see image) to convert to PVC. You may use two 45's or a sweep, (I'de rather you didn't use a 90) to line up to where you wish to move the toilet. Once you're lined up you may measure from the new PVC closet bend, ( get one with a hub) back to the hub of the 45 or sweep and cut a piece of PVC to fit. Don't forget to prime the pipe and hubs of the PVC fittings before you apply glue.
    Good luck, Tom,
