Questions about what I can get repaired on my new apartment
I'm moving in to a new apartment at the beginning of newxt month. I went in there today and notices a lot of stuff I didn't see on the initial walk-thru because it was getting dark outside and the electric was off. Two of the rooms have broken windows that are taped up and the sliding glass door has a huge crack on both of the windows. When you open that up, the screen door has a huge whole in it, a child can walk through. When I started my cleaning in the kitchen, only the hot water knob was working, when you turned the cold nothing comes out at all. Does anybody know my rights on what I can get fixed or not? I'm not really caring about the holes in the wall, I can cover that up, but I am worried about the screen because I have pets, and I am worried about the windows because of heating issues. Also, for obvious reasons, I want the kitchen sink to work! I don't want my new landlord to think I'm a pain in the a**, but I also don't want to be walked on. What exactly are my rights on what I can get fixed?

The landlord is required to provide a habitable environment. The type of repairs you cite show the landlord to be very lax. I would contact the landlord and state that you went in to make some measurements or whatever reason. During that visit you noticed the following things, then list the issues. Then inform the landlord that you assume he will use the period between now and when you officially move in to fix these problems.

I would suggest making sure all these things are noted BEFORE you move in so that if they are not fixed, you can't be charged for them upon moving out.
