Murray 14 hp 42" riding mower belt
Need diagram for belt replacement. I purchased a 1/2" x 91" belt and put it on but not sure if I did it correctly. Was working fine but now when I engage blades it dies (smokes & smells like rubber burning).

    Thanks!

    Kat or John,

Look on top of the mower deck to see if the outline is there. If not go to Murray.com make sure you have your model number and search there. Also, if you can find you owner's manual, its in there.

I just looked and the only 42" deck I saw was driven by a 17.5 horse power engine.

Sounds like you didn't get it on right. There are belt guards/guides that you must go to the correct side of, and also you could have a frozen up pulley.

I also have the 42" 14 HP Murray Commercial mower. I can't read the model number to get a new belt. If you'd like, email me back at chip@henry .lu (remove that space and change to @ symbol. I'll show you the right direction for that belt. You're right, it gets confusing, but goes like this. Front puller, tensioner (middle), left side, then right side. That's as the driver sits. Please send that model number if you would, and if I can help more, let me know.
