Hi I'm trying to make a circuit but instead of having all of the wires straight from the battery to the bulb I want to replace half of one wire and use water to complete the circuit but it doesn't work … I only used 6V

Help ….how many volts should I use?

If the water is distilled you may need 13,000 volts. Seriously, the water may not have any minerals in it. Voltage is only part of the issue.Water itself can offer some resistance if the water is not ionized with an electrolyte.

Try adding measured amounts of table salt. Add a small amount at a time, say a half teaspoon, check your results, and add more, etc.

I gave enough info to get you started, and some topics to study to learn why you were having problems and how you made your experiment work.

After you put in the salt, start with low voltage, throw in a hot dog, maybe 5-10 minutes, enjoy.

Forget the hot dog, lets have steak? :) Seeing that business is very very slow, the steaks on TK ;)

I can't put salt the purpose of the project is to electrified the water and grow a plant in it just to see the effects of electricity in plants

Is fertilizer allowed? That would add electrolytes to the mix.

I could had anything as long as I can make the electricity a variable

What should I use it doesn't have to be water as long some kind of voltage is going through the plant
