Remote works for fan, not light
I just installed a Hampton Bay Caswyck ceiling fan. The remote works fine on the fan, changes speeds, on and off. The remote will not turn the lights, top or bottom, on. I've checked the wiring, everything is tight. What do I do now?

    Itenjb,

Good morning, welcome to a beautiful Sunday morning, at least here in Tidewater, Virginia.

I know you checked the wiring and it's okay, but could you describe the wiring connections to me? I can't see them from here.

Also, does your new fan have a model number?

Model # 560-084. Black to black, white to white , ground to ground going into transmitter. Coming out is black-black, white-white-, orange-orange (top loght) blue-blue (bottom light) and ground to ground.

    Itenjb,

If you have a volt meter handy, measure the out wires leading to the fan. You should see 110/120 vac between Orange and Ground and between blue and ground with the receiver first on top, then on bottom. If there is no voltage out of the receiver to the lights then your receiver/transmitter if the problem

Make sure you have a receiver model that is compatible with your fan or ask for a replacement fan and receiver if this is a new fan.

Check to be sure all the bulbs are good. Check to make sure the dim function on the remote has not dimmed the bulbs all the way down.

Other than that, I suspect a defective unit, exchange it.
