    Deed transfer
Using N.Carolina state law can you use the record of deed that is kept at the wake county regisrty of deeds that you live in to transfer a deed from one person to another person?

You don't need the original deed in order to transfer property to someone. Every time you transfer property a new deed is prepared. The only information you need from the original deed is the legal description and recording information. Those things can be obtained from the copy of the deed that is available in the county register's office.

In fact you do not get the original deed filed, it always remains in the court house, you can get a copy to use for the legal discription of the property. But to transfer property a new deed will have to be drawn up, using the form of deed you wish to use, warranty, limited warranty quitclaim or so on. You should have a title search done on the property, this involves having someone trained go though all the past dees on file to see if all were transferred properly
