I thought age of consent in Maryland is 16 and there's no age gap provisions.. isnt it rite ? So that mean you can have sex with your 16 yr old girlfriend even if u're 30.. rite ? I don't know, if its' right then, what Can you do when u're 18 that you can't do when you were 16? Vote and buy cigarettes?

Personally I would not let my 16 year old date a 23 year old man. You are both in 2 totally different stages of life. Why are you interested in a high school girl when you should be concentrating on career? Please don't tell me that she is "mature."

Where am I from? Right here in the States. I have a 13 year old daughter and I can tell you that if she brought a 20 year old boy home (same age difference) he would be looking down a gun barrel.
You bringing up 37 year olds and 42 year olds are different than a 16 year old and a 23 year old. You both are in two different life stages. At this point in time. Now a 30 year old and a 37 year old are in closer life stages.
Just study Erikson and you will see the difference psychologically.

I believe that a 16 year old girl is only with an older guy to look cool in school... If I were you personally I wouldn't want anything to do with that high school drama... been there and done that you should be over that phase by now.
I'm 23 also and my fiancé is 33 I met him when I was 18... Yea we're 10 years apart and yes my dad wanted to kill him but we started spending time together and realized we had more than that. That isn't something that happens all the time. I didn't go looking for an older guy we both had mututal friends.
Be wise in your decision to date her because I am sure you won't get consent from her parents in writing at least and all you have to do is piss her off and your in jail after the first phone call from her parents. I've seen it happen to a buddy of mine. He got charged with rape all because he didn't want to be with her anymore.
So the answer to your question is you need consent as already mentioned but be careful and don't over step your boundaries.

Call your local police department or county court, they can tell you for sure. Depends on whether you are wanting age of sexual consent, age of marriage consent, etc.Quote:
