A few countries aspire to being civilized as opposed to barbaric places such as Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the usual suspects... what's wrong with apologizing to a person you kidnapped, flew across the world and had tortured?? (I'm thinking Syrian torture is pretty gruesome... electrodes on privates and worse.. :))
As for Canada, I hope they are monitoring the guy, at least!
Maybe they tortured him and maybe they taught him how to make bombs, and with 10 million he won’t be hurting for supplies.:D :D :DQuote:

The usual, Crow. Today the funniest thing happened, even an old lady can have a sex life of sorts! LOL!. go to the other Christianity Board to see what it was.
First off, this is old news, but from what I remember of it:
The reason he was paid 10 million by the Canadian government was because the RCMP flat out lied.
The RCMP admitted they had no evidence to connect him to terrorism but told the US he had terrorism links. The US therefore sent him to Syria, where he was tortured, etc.
It's in today's news and he is barred from entering the United States due to his status as a terrorism suspect. Nothing in the article about the RCMP admitting they had no evidence. I should think that some link would have been asked for from U.S. officials. Do you know what would motivate an out and out lie?Quote:

I just read Justice O'Connor's report…what a terrible injustice this guy went through.
It might be making news in the US now, but its been ongoing in Canada for over 2 years.
See this article from Sept 2006. CTV Toronto - RCMP provided wrong data on Arar, inquiry finds - CTV News, Shows and Sports -- Canadian Television
Our public inquiry came to the conclusion that,
The RCMP provided American authorities with inaccurate and misleading information that "very likely" led to Syrian-born Canadian Maher Arar's arrest and deportation, the federal inquiry into the case has concluded.
This article is from January 2007 where Ottawa apologized to Arar and gave him money as compensation as per the findings of the inquiry. CTV.ca | Arar gratefully accepts apology, still on U.S. list
