    XM Radio getting no power
I took my XM radio into Radio Shack to get an ac power adapter for it. The guy hooked up a 12V 1.5a adapter to it and plugged it in. After that I couldn't get power to it even with the car charger. The charger says it's 5V DC 2000mA. When I took it back and told the guy that my XM radio doesn't work now he said he didn't do anything to it but discovered he did sell me the wrong adapter. My question is could he have shorted out the radio by plugging it into the wrong adapter? When I plug the car charger into the car the red light comes on the charger but goes out as soon as I plug it into the radio. They are sending the radio off for repairs after a long battle with them.

It is possible he had the correct 5? Volts, but Reversed Polarity, + to -, and - to +.Haven't opened one up. Verify power making it to radio. follow the 12 volt in, and look for bad or diode?

I just got online with XM Radio and it states that it is a 5Volt system and DO NOT plug it into a 12Volt because it will fry the circuit board immediately. That is exactly what the sales clerk did at Radio Shack. Now I have to wait for it to be repaired which I doubt they can "repair" a fried circuit board. Beware of Radio Shack and their untrained employees:eek:
