How to have my son emancipated?
Does anyone know the steps to take to have my child emancipated? I live in Florida and my so is 15 he is in a lot of trouble with the law and he doesn't want to live with me or his father any longer he says he would rather be in jail. So the only thing I can think to do is have him emancipated. He is on probation and his po has been no help to me at all.

First, the minor child has to petition for emancipation. Second, Emancipation is granted only when a minor can show that they are financially and emotionally capable of living on their own. It does not sound like your son would be able to do that.

Why not just let him go to jail? Talk to the PO and the judge and ask that he be given jail time rather than probation.

First you can't, you can give custody over sometimes to family and children services but you will be paying child support for him.

To be emancipated they will have to have a job, money to pay all of their bills and the such.

At this age what you do is take control of him, get him sent to boot camp, talk to his probation officer on making him do some time if that would help change him.

We are parents over good and also bad kids, we don't have disposable children we just get rid of when things go bad

I just don't know what legal steps to take I have talked with a lawyer and they say just deal with your child all the boot camps here are voluntarily programs and he won't go. His father lives in south fl and is no help at all he doesn't want anything to do with him or the legal steps

You are still in control. He has to go where you tell him to go.
