Loud rock concert at 25 weeks
    Dear All,

Back in January long before I even thought of getting pregnant, I bought tickets to go and see the Kings of Leon in concert in December. I still want to go, obviously, but my husband is worried that it'll be too loud for the baby! I'll be around 25 weeks by then and he keeps reading things about the baby being able to hear sounds from the outside world, which I'm board with and I KNOW that it is going to be a loud gig with lots of bass-ey vibrations.

So I'd like to hear your considered opinions on the matter, bearing in mind that so far there's been no indication that my pregnancy is at all high risk. I'll be asking my midwife about it closer to the time too.

    Many thanks,

    Poppy_Seed.

When I was VERY pregnant with my daughter, I went to see CSN for a full on show, not just an acoustic set. Well, it is true that they can hear things through the belly walls! However, my daughter actually seemed to like the music, as she was doing almost rolling type movements when the music had more bass, and when Crosby belted out "almost cut my hair". I also put head phones onto my belly for her with ALL types of music, and she really seemed to enjoy it. She would be active for the music session, and then rest very contently afterwards. This actually came in handy at night, when she would wrangle around and keep both me and my Husband awake, (in the spoon position,, hey if I'm awakened from the belly rolls, he could see what it was like too! LOL). Later on, after she was here, to calm her, we would put music on to fill the house, and it helped clam her down. To this day, she is now sixteen, and can play three instruments, (all self taught). She LOVES MUSIC! I like to think that maybe I had some help with the influence of the music in her life. REMEMBER, THE WOMB IS A VERY, VERY NOISEY PLACE. BABIES HEAR A MUFFLED VERSION OF THE OUTSIDE WORLD. But, like you said, do check with the midwife, I hope that she will put you at ease. This maybe will be the last show that you will see for a while after your baby is born, you will be a full time mommy, and going out anywhere, will be very difficult for a while. GOOD LUCK with your pregnancy and your baby!
