    Working as a Doctor/Physician Abroad (from U.S.)
Hello. My husband is a retired MD (ObGyn) in the U.S. I am 2o years younger and a retired (I'm 42) journalist. We love traveling, but also want to do something meaningful with our lives and earn a little money too keep traveling.

We have been looking into doing medical work in Saudi Arabia, Ireland etc.

My question is: Are there places in the world you can work as a doctor, with an MD degree from a reputable Medical School like George Washington Medical School in DC, without needing a current license from a state in the U.S. The fees for continuing education, medical mal practice insurance and licensing for DEA and the board of medicine are sky-rocketing.

We are willing to go anywhere in the world. We love seeing other parts of the world, but are not "rich" enough to maintain our traveling lifestyle, hence needing to go back to work. We thought with my husbands excellent surgical and medical skills, surely there is a place where we (he) can work and also enjoy a new experience.

    Thank you very much!

Try checking with doctors without borders. They have helped do surgery on the poorest of children. I was watching a documentary on them and they did surgery on a little baby born with a deformed face.

    Welcome to the site!

My question is... Why would one want to practice without a valid medical license?

I think it may be more a case of first finding the where and then finding what would be valid for there and not involving high mal practice insurance.
I think the doctors without borders would be ideal and I think they help take care of those details.
