The engine come on a have a 01 civic si. I reset the light by disconecting the battery for 5 minits or so. Now the light is off but the car revs funny when I rev it up and when the revs come down they bounce between 1000 and 1500rpm's for a sec??

When the Check Engine Light comes on again, attach a scan tool or code reader and check for codes. This will help you identify what's wrong. AutoZone will do this for free.
