If you own car, and are doing this and tuneup, Service Manual is very helpful, Will save time and money.
Most fuel filters I see now, now need a metal or plastic round piece(tool) that goes around fuel line, push torwards coupler, pull fuel line apart, fuel may be under pressure, wrap with a rag, protect eyes. A Discount Aouto Parts should have both, and Filter.
Be sure to depressurize the fuel system first. This may require removing the gas cap first or disconnecting the connector going to the inertia switch (often in the trunk) and waiting for the engine to stumble, before removing the fuel filter. Find out the procedure used for your KIA.
If the fuel filter is located under the hood, disconnect the negative battery cable first for safety.
The filter is under the subframe. To release fuel pressure:Quote:

Once the fuel pressure is released, you still need to have a release tool to disconnect the filter from the system.
4. Reconnect fuel pump connector.
Not disagreeing with you Captain, It is strange that they ask to start engine to relieve pressure. Say you had a bad fuel pump, how would you release pressure.
I guess an answer could be, Bad fuel pumps don't create pressure?
Take Care.
If the filter's replaced during routine maintenance, the system should be functional and might well be holding residual pressure. By starting the engine, and then disconnecting the fuel pump connector, fuel pressure would be depleted to low enough to safely remove the filter.Quote:

Reconnect the fuel pump connector. Cycle the key on and then off, a couple of times to build up the system pressure again, and then the vehicle should restart. Once the engine has run the system will purge the air and will restart normally after that.
I have a 1998 Kia Sephia. The fuel filter has three lines. Two from the fuel pump and one goes to the fuel bar near the injectors. There is no indication which line goes where. There are two connections on one end with one bent and one connection on the other. Can you tell me which line goes where?
premiere, the single line on top of the canister goes to the fuel rail. Can't you verify this by looking at the current configuration? The filter is likely mounted in front of the LR wheel. Depressurize the system and disconnect the negative battery cable, prior to beginning work. Wear eye goggles.
