    Rescue Remedy
I have been taking this for a couple of weeks now, I do think its calming me down (had a personal trauma recently), but that could be because it contains Brandy... :)
Has anybody used this for any period?
    Do you think it works?
    Would you recommend it?

Alcohol calms you down for approximately 1/2 hour to 1 hour and then you will feel the same way again. You need to see a mental medical doctor not a phd and get professional help before you systems will get worse and you become dependent to alcohol.

Rescue remedy works and it works very well for some people you obviously need something stronger for the way you are feeling go talk to your dr.

I can assure you that I am not dependent upon alcohol (I was being cynical in my post). Rescue Remedy is a natural product containing plant essences, its made by Bach flower remedies.
I don't need to see a medical doctor, I am not depressed and I don't have the need to see a "mental doctor" either.

I am fully aware of what you are talking about I am from the uk too and have used the bach solutions for many years.
Have you looked at the other remedys I used to use the rescue plus another flower extract and that was better than the rescue on its on its trial and error with all the homeopathic stuff as it so says on there site and there book.

Yes Sharon, it works and very well, children and pets better than "adults". Don't worry about brandy (a 30 cc bottle needs two sugar spoons of brandy but in alternative you may use apple vinegar).

I have used Bach Flower Remedies, including Rescue Remedy, for longer periods. I would definitely recommend both Rescue Remedy and the other Bach Flowers remedies because they are non-toxic and completely safe. There is no concern for anyone regarding the amount of alcohol in these remedies. The amount of alcohol used is only for natural preservative, and you couldn't get drunk on several bottles of Bach Flower remedy, never mind the minuscule amount in a couple of drops...

For myself, I used a combination of Rescue Remedy (for "trauma"), Aspen (for anxiety), Mimulus (for "known" fears) and White Chestnut (for racing thoughts and / or "monkey mind") after the birth of my second child. I had difficulties with post-partum depression after my first child, so for my second child I wanted a completely safe way to support my body / emotions that was also safe for my breastfeeding baby. I took this combination for a number of months, with no ill effects and also no post-partum difficulties.

I do have to mention though that I also supplemented the Bach Flower remedies with some nutritive and supportive herbals that were also safe for a breastfeeding mother and child. I don't know if the Bach Flower remedies would have been sufficient for me on their own, but I have read of cases of depression being treated with Bach Flower successfully.

Personally, I use Rescue Remedy as part of my "every day" medicine chest. If my kids have a fall or trauma, or we're all upset (because someone has had a fall, or there's been a fight, or mom got mad about something!), then I dose everyone in the house. It's been a great help when everyone is wound up!

I can't recommend these enough as a first line of help. While you might want to use vitamins, minerals and herbals for both crisis and long term support, you can't go wrong with a well-chosen Bach Flower remedy.

WHAT A WONDERFUL POST. It is so inspiring.

Can you share how much of the rescue remedy you use? Is the dose different for adults than for kids.

I have a bottle of it that I keep around for my pets, but haven't used it yet. I use a lot of homeopathy. I had no idea I could use it in this way for every day use.

I have a young niece who started drinking when she gets upset and am looking for alternatives for her.

Can't thank you enough for the post.

Rescue Remedy (any bach flower remedy) is very easy to use. You can either put a few drops in a glass of water and sip it over the day, or take a drop directly on your tongue whenever you think of it. You can't "overdose", and you don't have to worry about any toxic side effects. Basically, if you feel like the symptom has reappeared (for instance, you felt anxious, took the remedy and felt better, and now feel anxious again) you can take it again.

Homeopathy works differently, as I understand it, than drugs. Drugs interfere with bodily processes; they "brute force" a cure. Homeopathy reinforces the body's own natural (and healthy) energetic patterns. That's why it's so safe.

While there are some homeopathics that have to be used with care, the Bach Flower remedies are COMPLETELY safe and can be used by any layperson. It's worthwhile though to do some reading on them so that you can find the right combination for the particular person, to really support their emotions effectively.

    Hope this helps!
