    Going off the pill/side effects?
    Hi,

I went off the pill 3 weeks ago about, I didn't use protection with my fiancé. I have been looking on line and can't seem to find anything on the side effects. I have been having severe pains in my breasts, cramping and emotional ups and downs. The pain in my breasts are more severe then ever in my life and espcially my nipples. Today it's been the mildest also I have had bloating.

Is this normal side effects, there is a good chance I could be pregnant, but I won't test myself until my next period due which is next week.

    Help?

The pill clears your system faster than other forms of birth control (like the Depo shot), so it is possible you could be pregnant.

But these symptoms you are experiencing are also normal things while coming off birth control. You body is hormonally imbalanced right now. It is trying to stablize your hormones without the prescence of birth control pills. It can also cause your period to be irregular until everything gets back to normal.

My advice would be to wait until you are due for your next period... if you are late, take a HPT. If it is negative, set an appt with your doctor... get a blood pregnancy test, then talk to them about you symptoms.

I would say that I had a lot of bloating when I came of my pill, & sore breasts is quite normal for being due on as well as being pregnant. As for mood swings there quite normal as your body is used to receiving hormones within your pill so it now getting use to not having it. Of course you may well be pregnant too. Depending on which country you live , you can get early pregnancy tests. Clear blue will work with morning sample up to 4 days before your due if you live in the uk. Good luck .

I don't know where you shop, but this is NOT the case here in the US. We have many many kinds of tests.

With that said, most tests will not detect pregnancy until after you miss your period. And be sure to use it with first morning urine.

I shopped at Walgreens, and I was answering to the girl who is in the UK. She was referring to a test there. I am aware of the different tests, but I chose EPT, that is an early detection and specifically for 5 days before your period. So that's the one I took, however I will take another if I miss my period.

    Thanks.

I stand corrected I did take it to soon, you are right. It's not five days before it's five days after I should have watied was my thought. I don't know why I took it too early I knew better I'm grown, maybe the pressure of others saying take it now.

Thanks it made me go look at what the test actually said.

Will wait until the following week.

Do you have to take the test in the morning for it to be right?

Good question HeatherAnn, as many people don't understand the dynamics of a pregnancy test.

While the directions may say that you can take it any time of the day or night, the test is most accurate when taken first thing in the morning.

As you sleep, your bladder fills with urine, your body constantly releases the hCG hormone into your system (blood and urine), during this time (while you sleep), there is a buildup of the hCG in the urine and makes the concentration of the pregnancy hormone higher in the morning urine. As you urinate throughout the day you release the hormone in each urination, as well as diluting it with whatever you drink throughout the day, which makes the concentration lesser after the first morning urination. Since you do not loose blood as you do urine, blood tests are more definitive as the hormone constantly builds up in your body.

I hope this answers the question.
