    On Income Tax Return
I was wondering my boyfriend and I are planning on gettting married next year in Feb. He owes back child support and makes weekly payments to the courts for his child support. Plus his arrears. How would we go about filing income taxes without my earnings being included in his income. If I file married filing separate would my returns be affected?

If you file jointly, you can claim "INJURED SPOUSE" status. This will make your part of the refund safe from collection actions.

You could also file Married Filing Separately, which may be simpler.
