Picture a chair back(bench) 50" wide,25" high(right now its square)

I would like to build a radius approx. 2-3' drop on each end,using the full height in the center.

Any ideas how I can make a flowing curve like this?

The amount of inches for the drop really isn't going to be enough to enable making much of a curve. I would suggest dropping the ends of the sides a couple more inches, measure down in marked gradients from the center to create the curves, and then rounding out the point in the top of the middle of the back to help to give the appearance of a curve.

Thank you,I did figure it out,using 2"wide 3/16" plywood,and 3 clamps,I got a real nice curve for the bench seat,pics to follow soon! :)

No,not really in the classic sense.

My work is geared, today, towards outdoor furniture specifically Adirondack chairs and benches,right now I am in the developmental stages.

You do mean that you are making furniture, correct?

Yeah,I was trying to load the images,but being more thumbs than computer literate,I can't get them in yet

They are in my Yahoo mail,in their own folder,I just can't seem to get them transferred to Picasa so I can post them

My suggestion would be to create a new folder on your desktop where you could put your image files that you might want to post here so that they are easy to find. Then I would suggest just right clicking on the images in your Yahoo email account, "Save Picture As" and save them into the new folder that you have created.

You should then be able to open the images that are then on your computer with Picassa and size and save them according to how large image files of various types can be to be posted on this site.

Trying to do that right now... fingers crossed,and eyes a little crossed too... lol

Yes, but it wasn't an alteration, it was a build from scratch:)

I made a porch swing from scratch many years ago. My goal was to have a curved seat, curved back, and curved front to the seat. Don't have any pictures, though. Could happen at a later time... No plans in the building of it. Just did it.

I can build from scratch after a few developmental delemas, then its all routine,mass production is my goal.

I work in my woodshop,my own boss so to speak,work is 200 feet from the front door.

I have been a contractor for almost 20 years and recently changed to furniture making and other wood type projects for a living.

You? I heard gig there,what kind of gig?

One of the things that I do is that I am a professional musician on a number of instruments and also voice. The gig tonight was on piano with a big band dance band. It was for ballroom style dancing.

I am also a furniture refinisher, handyman, piano tuner/technician, as well as give private music instruction to students in my home on various instruments and voice. I taught in public and private schools in the music type sections for many years.

I really like working with wood.

I also refinished furniture(in Naperville) a number of years back.

And played violin and cello in school,even got first chair!

Now that would be a project to tackle, making a cello.:)
