    Garage door closer problems
My boss has asked me to fix a garage opener. I have no clue as to the brand. When pushing the indoor switch, the door closes to within 4 inches of the floor and re-opens. If you hold the switch until the door closes completely it will stay closed. I do know that the laser beams are mounted on the wall just above the door.

Sounds like the laser beams are out of adjustment or one of them is bad

Or the set adjustments built in to the back side of the unit are in need of adjustment, not all units have these, but most do.

To adjust them you look closely at the units rear(flashlight to see the directional screws)and adjust the doors movement, higher or lower as the case may be.

First check the laser eyes as esquire1 stated,if the door is still malfunctioning after lining them up as close as you can(just look from side 1 to side 2)(height might also be a situation, both sides need to be around 3-4 inches from the floor, they are there for children and pets)

If this did it cool, hope so.

Whoever mounted the beams mounted them above the door about 10 inches apart. I am guessing just to get the door to open. Has anyone seen this done before?

Normaly there mounted on the bottom of the jamb, I've yet to see installation the way you've mentioned it, it does sound like there out of adjustment or there is something blocking the lazor

Sure,we have a drive through garage, one end the lasers are 3-4"up,the other are halfway up,the purpose of the eyes is only a safety feature, some for functionality, say if a rake is in the door when you are lowering it,

Have you checked the laser for any dirt in the lens, that could do it too.(just an afterthought)
