I am nearly finished reviewing a book called "Microsoft Sharepoint 2007 Development (Kevin Hoffman, Robert Foster)." I also have Microsoft Office Sharepoint Designer 2007. I have a particular interest in trying to play with CAML queries, programming sharepoint lists, and creating web parts.

Is Microsoft Office Sharepoint Designer 2007, the only software tool that I need to build CAML queries and program webparts and sharepoint lists? I have come to a point where I have reached Sharepoint 2007's out-of-box limitations, but I am not familiar with the Designer and what it is capable of doing.

The author had referred to the "U2U CAML Query Tool" which I have downloaded. But do I really need this?
