    When my boyfriend drinks
When my boyfriend drinks he gets threatening, today he tried to kidnap my dog, he locked himself in the bathroom with a knife to threaten suicide, he took 200 dollars from me. This is just one day, he does these things every time he drinks but when he is sober he is nice as can be, what would you do?

Well that all depends. Tell his family he has a major drinking problem and then when he is sober tell him unless he quits drinking and joins a program to stop you're leaving him.

The easier way, and safer would be just to leave him.

To be honest, Its really up to you! If you want to help him through it and he is willing to try and not drink.. then you should stay. If you arnt willing to help him through it or he isn't willing to stop then your best bet is to leave..
I used to be like that drinking.. A total bumhole . I nearly destoryed my relationship with my mother then with my ex-girlfriend and just about every friend I had... Turns out the relationship with my Girlfriend did end but that's another story nothing to do with drinking..
You pretty much described the things I would do when Id get really drunk.. not that extream, even when I was totally smashed I couldn't bring myself to hurt my Girlfriend in anyway (But everyone is differnt)
I agree with statictable... I can say you feel very stupid waking up in a jail cell because of drinking.. It sort of gives you a relaity..

    Good luck!@

Yeah drinking is dangerous as hell, and to quit requires intense will and drive when you have a problem that bad. I was there. I never hit anyone but I got belligerent and I broke , so I had to quit. It takes time too it took me several months to kick the habit. Good luck.

Karmalarma, you have two choices here.

    1. Leave him and let him fend for himself.

    2. Leave him and tell him that if he does not get professinal help today, you'll never see him again.

His choice is to either fend for himself and keep on killing himself slowly or get professional help to deal with his alcoholism and depression.

You cannot hold his hand and guide him. He has to really want to change his life. Unless he admitts he has a problem, he will not change, no matter how many promises he makes. Don't hang around until he hits rock-bottom - and that may be the only way he will see that he wants to get back up and live a better life.

This is a serious issue and you should not take it lightly. Being 'dry' for over twenty years, I know what I'm talking about.

    All the best.
