My friend has a wirless router {netgear} he get`s connected to the wirless sometimes but never connect`s to the hard cable connection. He is getting a ip address 71.148.47.72 and he is also able to ping with the wirless connection:confused: There is no eltronic device besides the modem as wellas besides the router. Still he is not able to go on line.

There is a lot of missing information. Dsl/cable, router model. Is the IP address from ipconfig /all or from something like WhatIsMyIP.com If it's a separate router, then you have to put the modem in bridge mode. The modem contains the passwords etc. The wiireless router does DHCP and NAT.

Was there an initial configuration?

Technically that's how we solve the problems by TROUBLESHOOTING, so just answer the question or get a qualified "technical" person to do the job!
