How do I know for sure. Am I just paranoid?
My husband, daughter, and I moved to Virginia because of the Navy. We moved into an apartment that we have been living in for a year now. I have noticed that most of the property and buildings here are very old.
I have always felt like there is someone else in my apartment with me.
I have not gotten a restful nights sleep here not ONCE since we moved in.
My husband works a night shift from 6pm to 6am 2 days out of every week... and I end up waiting up for him the whole night, restlessly.
I constantly check the closets, bathrooms, bedrooms, and I can help but feel that someone is there...
Usually when someone else is in the room with you, you can sense it... I can, and I always feel like something is there.
I'm constantly concerned about my daughter's well being.
    I don't know if I'm just paranoid.
Even when my husband is home, I still feel unsettled.
At night when everyone is sleeping, I find myself awake lying in bed staring at the bedroom doorway listening for anything.
    I'm so tired of worrying.
Sometimes I also here the noise that the carpet makes when someone is walking on it... It FREAKS ME OUT..

We'll be moving into a townhouse or home soon, hopefully I won't experience the same unsettling feeling there.

    Any suggestions or advise?

As you'll be moving into a townhouse or home soon, probably you will experience a relief... but if you do not change your state of mind, get expert help, first from your physician to make sure your health does not deteriorates as a result of your lack of good sleep.

It is probably a ghost that isn't out to harm you, but is just attached to the house.

I was a Navy Wife for 20 years. Whenever he got underway, my hearing would go on hyperdrive. Most likely you are experiencing anxiety from being on your own.

Living in old, creeky apartments doesn't help. You can hear all sorts of sounds that sound creepy at night that you don't notice during the day.
