Hi, I read one of your questions and answers and I bought replacement seats and springs. Maybe dumb question, but do I have to turn the water off before replacing these?

Yes you need to turn off the water.
If you do not follow ac101's advice you will not be happy with what happens next. There is probably no separate shut of for the shower so your main is the likel shut off. Once you get going click back here and there are sevral people who can adice you. Speedball1 and Iamgrowler are plumbers and can be very specific if you have a brand/model for them.
Thank you ac101 and ballengerb1; I had assumed that you have to turn the water off so I did and I replaced the seats and springs... it still drips out of the pipe when it's turned off. Any other advice? Speedball1 and Iamgrowler... any advice? This dripping is driving me crazy. It is a Delta Monitor, 1400 series. Thx, Charlie
When you had the valve apart did you turn the water on for a minute to flush out the valve body and supplies? You may have a little piece of trash under the seat the you missed when you installed them. Go back and look. Good luck. Tom
