I recently replaced my old thermostat for a new prgramable Noma which I couldn't get to work. After reading a few comments of similar situations with Noma, I exchaged for a Honeywell (model RTH4300B). I am in the same spot. There are only two wires coming oput of the wall. I connected the wite to the W and the black to the RC jumped to R on the Honeywell. I can hear a click when turn the furnace power on but nothig else happens. No fan, no heat.
The old one was turning the furnace on but it seams to be something wrong with the thermoeter because the temperature was always getting to the same level regardles of the settings. I got rid of it and can't test the furnace with it now. I installed the new Noma a few weeks ago but never tested until now and the Honeywell today and here I am. Any idea what the problem is?

Kill the power to your furnace,, take off the thermostat and tie the two wires together,now turn back on the power to furnace,, if working properly the furnace should start up and work normally,, this tell you furnace is OK,, then with thermostat put back as it was,, I would hook up white to W, and your black wire to r/h,, if it still not working you could have a bad thermostat.

Thank you for your response. I did that too. After reading and investiating for some time, I finally realize that the furnace pilot was off. That explains the click I heard when I turned the power back on but nothing happened. I want to mention how helpful this site was in finding the solution to my problem.
One more time, thank you very much. The system is now on and heating.
