    Panic Attacks
I am having panic attacks recently. I have to cut off at least one utility for some time to afford to have some dental work done. I think the cost will be between $500-$1,000, or more, from past experience. First, I'm going to cut off cable TV which I'm addicted to-I'm homebound and it is my company. I am having trouble making the call to Comcast because I will miss cable tv(I can have NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX AND EDUCATIONAL TV)which is what I watch most of the time. I'm getting chest pains just thinking about it.

Can anyone offer any help and positive input so I can more easily think on the positive side?

    Thanks

Well seeing as you are not going to cut off your internet you can watch whatever you want on that by visiting streaming sites, *cough*tv-links*cough*

Just think of it this way. After you have your dental work done and get caught back up/ you can have it turned back on. Think of what is more important right now. When you get chest pains just take deep breaths and play soft music. I have panic attacks all the time. My Doctor give me nerve pills for it. Maybe that would help you as well

    Choux,

I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I watched my mother-in-law go through the same thing for several years, so I'm not a total stranger to the phenomena.

Obviously, the very best option (in a perfect world) is to seek and obtain good medical counsel on this issue. You're a smart gal, so I know this has crossed your mind.

Besides that, there are a few things you can do to alleviate the symptoms and/or possibly head off attacks, or at least reduce the frequency.

First and foremost, make every reasonable effort to maintain a good and steady diet. Easier said than done, I know. Second, incorporate some sort of physical exercise routine into your day. Don't hurt yourself, just do what you can handle. Third, a good sleep pattern will help as well. Shoot for between 6 and 9 hours per night, but don't go overboard. Sleeping TOO much can do more harm than good, as I'm sure you know.

If you happen to be able to keep your cable/satellite, try and find the all-music channels if your provider makes them available. All the better if they come with images, but most don't. My personal favorites are on our system are the classical favorites and the new age (shhh... don't tell the Christianity board! :) )

If you don't have those, try doing a search for some similar sites on the internet. I know there used to be some, and presumably there still are. I haven't looked in a while, but as soon as I get more than three minutes at a time to do something, I'll see what I can find.

Don't give up, darlin'! I will make it a special point to pray for you, in the hope and desire that you get some rest and relief.

    DK
