    My Mom ruined our vacation
My sister and I planned a trip to the beach this week, but our mother insisted on trying to ruin it. When we got to the beach, my sister had a glass of wine and I had a couple of beers - we were at the beach you know! She was "shocked" that I had a couple of beers. I'm a 48 year old adult, my sister 60. She pouted about that the whole time - telling me about the 12 steps yada yada yada. I'm not even close to being an alcoholic. She wanted to go home after just three days there and we had paid for seven days. She is a drama queen and since my brother, sister and I are relatively normal, she has to have something to tell her friends so she can one-up them. Any advice?

All I can say is try not to let the things your mother does get under your skin.
In one ear, out the other.

Perhaps the next vacation you go on you can leave your mother at home.

I know you may not always agree with your mother, but she is still your mother and probably just wants the best for you, no matter your age.

I know I don't always agree with my mom, but I let her think she's always right... LOL... my little way of keeping the peace... in one ear and out the other - unless she's really making sense.

Well, she acted like a spoiled brat down there. My sister and her husband flew all the way in from Nevada for this vacation, but mom wanted to go home? By the way, I live in North Carolina and we were at a South Carolina Beach. Believe me... she won't go on another vacation with us -- EVER.

Sounds like a short term pain for long term gain.

You have my sympathies - my mother is like that, too. Assumes anyone that has one beer is an alcoholic. Don't say anything you might regret later and just let it go.

My advice is to plan a vacation that does not include your Mother.
