    Coleman electric furnace
I have a Coleman electric furnace in a mobile home. The furnace element turns on and heats up with the thermostat turned down to 50 degrees and with the inside temperature at 68 degrees. The thermostat doesn't click for the blower to turn on until I turn it up past 70 degrees. Why is the element heating up and then after it gets so hot the element turns off. It does this cycle about every two to three minutes. I have pulled the breaker to keep it from running but I would like to have heat. Any suggestions as to what part needs replaced.

Does your fan run if you set the fan switch to "on" on the thermostat? Has your thermostat been replaced recently and if so did you have this problem before?
The fan should come on immediately when you turn the thermostat down. Mike

My Coleman furnace still has the original equipment and thermostat. The thermostat doesn't have a switch to turn the fan to the on position. However, there is a switch to turn the fan on located inside the furnace cover. When I turn it on the blower runs. Also, when I turn the thermostat up past 70 degrees the element heats up and the blower kicks on like it is supposed to do and turns off when it reaches the appropriate temp. The element will continue to cycle and heat up even though it doesn't need to.
