I replaced the BCM in my 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager with a used one from a salvage yard. As soon as we re-connected the battery, the alarm starting going off ( we did not even know the van had a security system as the alarm has never gone off and we do not have the keyless remote ) We have tried removing the IOD fuse for 3 minutes - also we have tried to turn the alarm off by locking and unlocking the drivers door with the key, and finally we tried placing the key in the lift gate in the unlock position and then in the ignition to off and on etc.. All things we have read on the internet. The van does start but will not stay started ( of course the alarm is constantly sounding), and as we were told by the salvage yard - the mileage did change when we replaced the BCm. Any ideas for us?

Hi, I have a 98 grand voyager. I recently had a new altanator, and battery installed, also new battery cables. Before that all the gauges would flatline, then it wouldn't stay running' I used to hit the dash, and it would work, now that won't work anymore. Now all it does is click, and it sounds like a vacuum sucsion when I turn the key, then when I try to start it. All I hear is a ticking.

The numbers on the old and new bcm have to match if not the anti theft system goes into a default disabling the vehicle

Even with matching numbers, if you buy a Chrysler module, ECM or BCM, you need to specify if it has security or non-security. You can often tell by the color of your vehicle key. That's difficult to do with a used module because the salvage yard often doesn't have that info on used modules.
