1988 Mercury Grand Marquis windshield wiper's
In my original question on 10/5/07 about fixing a windshield wiper on a 1988 Mercury Grand Marquis which CaptainRich was good enough to answer and help me by telling me where the fuse for the wipers are and how to test them ,I thank him. However, since the fuse has proven to be good, I think the next step would be to test the Windshield wiper switch? Can someone please tell me how to do that in some way other than by simply replacing it?
Another possibility I'm told is that I may have a bent or damaged linkage, or that they are possibly disconnected. I am not sure what is meant by the linkage, much less how to check it and/or fix it. Can anyone please help me?
    Thanks in advance,James

    James,
The easiest way to test the switch is with an unpowered test lamp (very inexpensive) and you can test right at the wiper motor connector:
Connect the ground side of the tester directly to ground.
With the wiper switch in HIGH the test lamp should light up when the probe is touched to the WHITE wire. Switch to LOW/INT power is on the DARK BLUE/ORANGE trace. If you have power on either one of these but the wipers don't move, the problem is likely the wiper motor.

Let me know how this works.
