Is this your son? If it is, has his diagnosis been changed?

Oh, okay, just wanted to get that cleared up. How is your son anyway?

Now, this can happen to some with Bipolar Disorder, especially if they are non-compliant with meds. It seems to be more prevalent in the form of Bipolar Disorder that is considered rapid cycling.

It sounds as though, and I don't know for sure, you know them, but it sounds as though this person (boyfriend or daughter?) is not taking meds.

Bipolar Disorder is a disorder in which the medications are a necessity of life, just like schizophrenia, but sometimes different meds are ordered. There are different neurotransmitters involved with bipolar than schizophrenia, but they need to be stabilized nonetheless.

Has he been under a lot of stress lately? Medication helps to control their thinking and emotions, but when under a lot of stress... you can explode.
I have a son with BP who has been on meds for 5 yrs. But whenever he gets real stressed, he will just either have a melt down or a screaming fit.
Be patient, but ask him to go to life classes to learn to handle his emotions and highs and lows. He can learn to walk off from stress when he feels like he is going to explode, but if he isn't on meds... he is responsible for his behavior..
He can't use his condition as an excuse if he isn't getting treatment. Maybe he needs different meds?
