    Whirlpool Dishwasher
I have a whirlpool tall tub dishwasher. About a week ago it stopped working and the clean light is flashing. We had a technician come out who showed us how to reset the control panel and said that the latch was probably not engaging properly. He didn't charge us for the visit which was nice, but it also didn't fix the problem. I haven't noticed a problem with the door latching. I did take the unit apart to a degree and everything seems to be in order in terms of wires being attached and such. The owners manual says that the problem is a heater circuit problem. From reading another email, I assume that other than the control panel and door switch, the only other problems could be the thermostat and the heating element. I was wondering if there is a way of differentiating between the two? I sat in front of the machine during a light wash cycle and noticed that the light started flashing and the machine stopped right after the wash cycle, I imagine when it was going to start heating the water for rinsing. I opened the machine and noticed that the water was warm ( I don't know if this is done by the machine or if the water fed into it is from the hot water valve), but the heating element was cool to the touch. Help me know what to look for.

Check to verify power to the element then check the element for continuity. If none, it is bad

I had the same problem. Repairman told me it was almost certainly due to corrosion of the heater element terminals under the unit. It wasn't. He showed me how to reset the code, and it worked OK. Reset code: Push 1. Heat Dry 2. Normal 3. Heat Dry 4. Normal

I had a similar problem. It was fairly obvious that the heating element had corroded away, but even after replacing it, the light continued flashing. I used the reset code given by bothellboy and my dishwasher is now up and running again. Thanks for the recommendation.

We had repair man to come out and replaced the fuse and checked the door switch. The switch on the control panel when unplugged and plugged in again it will run for a moment and then when we puch the cancel button it will not stop the machine! The Mod # is du1055xtss2 and the dishwasher in 1 yr. old.

A few days ago my WhirlPool stopped working all together. Mod #: DU930PWSQ0. The lights on the front doesn't even come on. I have no idea where the reset button is, so if anyone can help a female that has no clue about dishwashers, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Thank you bothellboy! My dishwasher's clean light was blinking and I was just about ready to order a new heating element. I came across your reset code and I am so excited... it worked! Thank you so much! Saved me many $$!

Press and hold the "heated dry" button for about 5 seconds. I had the same problem. I've had to reset my dishwasher twice in the past week and then the lock came on. I'll never buy a Whirlpool app. Again. It's only 3 yrs old. Model GU2700

Thanks a lot for your response. That worked but now my dishwasher doesn't want to start.there are now 2 lines where it says estimated time and nothing happens.I am going to scream.it is 4 times already that I had to have a guy come and reset it,(this time I did it by myself)and now it seems that it doesn't want to do anything.I use to love whirlpool and now I am starting to wonder.I do not think I will ever buy another appliance from them again.take care and thanks again... I am going to write whirlpool right now.

I had to reset the dishwasher. The repairman told me that if the water is not hot enough the dishwasher will quit.

The heating element will heat the water, but if the water doesn't reach a certain temperature in so much time it will quit. Our hotwater heater is two floors above and it takes about a minute to get hot water. So before each load we run the water until it is at least warm before starting the dishwasher.
