Hello Everyone,
I am a 30 year old woman, I was married when I was 19 years of age and I was 8 months pregnant with my son who is now 11 years of age. My husband up and left when my son was 5 months old, I have not seen or heard from him since, I haven't never gotten 1 nickel from him after he abandoned our household. His name is George K. Blackmore and he is from Accra, Ghana. He was living in Bronx, New York, he might have even been in (Florida or North Carolina) I am now a much wiser woman, and I now believe that he used me to get his Alien Registration Card, so he could become a citizen. I have been trying to locate him so I can file for a divorce and move on with my life, but they say that I must locate him first, I have been trying to locate him for over 9 years, I need some help, I am desperate to move on in my life, I also hear that he has had more children since he abandoned our household and that he might have remarried again, which I don't get since we are not legally divorced yet.
Is there anyone out here who has any advice for me, I would appreciate any suggestions or advise that you might have.

I never knew any of his relatives, he was born in Accra, Ghana. I wish I knew someone that he knows, but I don't.

After this many years you can contact a divorce attorney and file for abandonment rather than divorce.

I would go with J_9's advice. Save yourself some headake...

I'm not sure who you check with, or where you live..

I do know it's possible to get a divorce even if the other party is no longer around.
You and your son were abandoned.
I think a person only needs to serve notice via the papers of his last known address.

I wish I knew someone in his family, but even if I did, there goes that saying that blood is thicker than water, so they probably wouldn't help me even if I did know them.

All I want is a divorce & I also want to make sure he has no rights to my son, whom I have been raising for 10 and a half years without any help from him whatsoever. My son doesn't even know him, because he left when my son was 5 months old.

If you have made a good faith attempt to locate him but without success and can document it, then you should be able to get a divorce decree or have the marriage annulled. Take with a lawyer to find out what your best option is.

My mom was in this same position... I am 25 and her and my dad separated when I was about 4 or so... so it has been over 20 years. They never got legally divorced. She had no idea where he was at. She went and spoke to an attorney and all she had to do was run an ad in local newspapers announcing her intent to divorce my dad... if he didn't respond in a certain amount of time (I forget how long), she was able to go ahead with the divorce on her own... it was really quite easy and didn't cost too much :)

Oh... forgot to add... this all was RECENT, I think she did it about 1-2 years ago :)

Hello Everyone,
I forgot that I made this post over 4 years ago. I have found some addresses on him. But he moves around constantly. I truly believe he is doing this, so I won't locate him, and he is scared that I will want child support for our son who is now 15 years old. I don't want anything from him, except a divorce. I will be taking the advice of one of the posters, and see if I can file an ad in the local newspaper. I have been married 15 years too long, and need this to move on in my life.
