    Blind Cat Serenade!
Two months ago, I adopted a beautiful neutered, male, white cat with one blue eye and one green and completely deaf. He lived in a large, multi-storeyed house with people who genuinely cared for him, but didn't train him with hand signals.

He is a very gentle, relaxed cat. Not all that tactile, but friendly and sweet natured. However he has a habit of yowling - very, very loudly. It's not his usual purr or greeting. He uses a normal tone for that. It's also not a mating call.

This meowing/yowling sounds dreadful. As if he is looking for something. He will leave a room I am in, with his other cat mates, and go to a different room in the house and start his serenade. If I go to him, he seems surprised to see me and gives a chirrup of happiness. When I walk away he starts up again.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop him doing this?

I think I know what you're talking about. My tabby will do this occasionally. His eyes will get as big as saucers and he'll howl. Sometimes he'll get to running around the house at the same time. Sometimes he does it when there's a bug on the ceiling he can't reach but other times, it's for no reason. If I go and scoop him up and scratch his chin he snaps out of it instantly and gets back to his normal purry snugly self. I really don't think it's something to be too concerned about. It may just be a way of entertaining themselves. Some of our other cat folk may see this question and give their input... which is always helpful:)
