    Lien on home?
    Me and my husband defaulted on a few credit cards about 8 years ago. We still get stuff in mail from some of the collection agency. I have a lien on me that says expires on 08 I found online in from a coll./ atty. Type thing. In Ft Lauderdale some bills are on each of us some we together. We are going to sell our house soon to a invester. And move Should we try to find out if there is a Lieing on our house > There's was one guy from a collection agency who said he would put a lien on our house . It was just c cards no home repairs. We live in Florida. How or should we find out before we sign a contract? And how about when we go buy a place in Montana we plan on paying mostley cash but mabey Mortgage 20,000 Would we have to pay all what we owe to get a mortgage? Help, please were ready to go soon.

    A lien against your property, if there is one, should be on file in the FL county that you live in. Ask the courthouse staff how to see if there is any such lien. If there is one, then you will not be able to sell the home until the lien is released and that will not occur until either you pay the debt or prove it otherwise is not a valid lien such -

    They could not get a judgement without being legally served court papers, and they could not get a lien without a judgement.

    If there is a lien , it will be on file at the court house.

    Remember the saying on collection people, if their mouths are moving they are lying. They will tell you the police will come arrest you. They will tell you that they are taking you car and more.
