    Summons for Judgement
    I received a summons for judgement on a debt that I owe.I would like to know how to serve an answer to the court?I am unable to pay my debt at this time I am permantly disabled and cannot work .I am on workmans compensation with very limited income.
    Should I also send a copy to their lawyer and keep a copy for myself? I have know idea where to start please help!The summons was delivered to me 10/06/07.

    You have to file a notice of Intent to Defend with the court and a copy to the plaintiff. A hearing will be scheduled in which you show up with proof of income and disability. This may not prevent a judgement from being awarded, but it could prevent any attempts to collect until your situation changes.

    Depends on what state your in but you usually have 30days to respond. Do respond within that time to both the court and the plaintiff otherwise that can get a default judgment against you. That you don't want, it basically means they win by default because you chose not to respond to them
