I can't seem to answer the first part!

I think the second part is because, the more dead orginisms there is, the more decomposer's there will be to recycle the large orginisms into smaller ones.

Well I'd say more death would initially increase decay because there would be more matter to decay. However if the organisms doing the decaying ran out of oxygen because of all the dead stuff/ the reactions they were doing used it all up it would decrease the rate of decay again.

D'oh and I said on the other post I wouldn't give the answer out! I think it's OK saying this as it is just my own random theory and not doing your course I don't know what the official line is for the system you are studying. It's something to think about though.

As long as you give scientific reasons for your answer you will get marks even if it is wrong. Hope this helps

I'd follow through with the first answer-
An initial increase but when the decomposing organisms die then it would decrease.

The decomposer's don't recycle large organisms into smaller. They break down the dead organisms into smaller molecules which can be used by other organisms as an energy source/ building materials. For example the nitrogen in the flesh of an animal will be released for plants to use.

If you use a relevant example from your course to illustrate your answers you will get higher marks.

i.e.

The death of many organisms will have na increase in the rate of decay by <name of a decomposer>... blah
